SmartDoc Formatting in Document Designer

We should be able to format a linked record table to show up in a card format similar to how it shows up in a record selector. This would allow us to make documents more in line with the new dashboard look and feel.

Yes please!
We need to generate a RFI response document and want to pull in any information that was entered in the SmartDoc field in the record.
On the document designer, we are loosing all formatting and even any images that were added in the SmartDoc field.

Very long SmartDocs also break the document designer completely.
For example: when the Smart Doc is the body of a letter that shiuld just flow over several pages

My use case for Document Designer is to generate a contract. I generate the text of the contract via an automation that populates a SmartDoc field with personalized elements (signatory names, date, payment amount), and I can format contract headings and inline elements with bold text for emphasis. All of the text styling is lost when the SmartDoc field is placed into Document Designer.
We send contracts several times per month, currently using a combination of Make, Microsoft Word, and DocuSign. I'm hoping to simplify the workflow with Document Designer someday.

David Mahaffey we’ve tried to use for contracts as well but Signature Capture field displays so low res in DD (even though it’s sufficient size in the signature field) that it’s unusable. Use Documint for now and Relay to automate the process.

Yes, all formatting in SmartDocs is removed in Document Designer.

Great to hear your perspective, Beatriz Romero! I have a few more questions for you:
- Can you provide examples of the specific SmartDoc fields where you'd like to see this feature implemented?
- Are there any specific document types where this feature would be particularly useful?
- Could you clarify if you want the formatting to be retained when the SmartDoc field is moved or copied within the document?

Jon Darbyshire I do not really understand your questions. If you export a Word or Libre Office Document as a pdf, of course it keeps it's formatting like Headlines, bold italic, lists etc. you would not ask if this is particularly usefull because it is kind of mandatory that it does that. I´am trying to create a solution that stores meeting notes that are written into a smartDoc, structured by headlines and formats. But I have to send it via make to a thrid party program to generate a pdf out of it because the Document designer only export Smart Docs as plain unformatted text and does not create page breakes.
