Simplified pivot table for inventory summary

When I have tried using the pivot tables, I notice that they need multiple column headers, so it doesn't actually provide me with a quick table summary of inventory by category. It would be great to have a simplified pivot table that allows for a single column header and value with a sum in the other, making it easier to generate quick summaries.
