Rename Image files using a formula

I can envision a need to be able to rename files and images using a formula pulling data out of various fields in the record. For records that have more then one file or image in the fires and images field there could be a way to detect the original extension of the files so to adjust the file name based on the extension and when there are multiple files or images in one record there could be an prefix/postfix identifier such a (1), (2), (3) or (A), (B), (C). Having this ability would allow for exports of these files or images to have a filename that makes sense as per the data in the record.

Hiya Gary Ford, thanks for this post! I have a few more questions for you:
- Could you provide some examples of the formulas you would like to use for renaming the files?
- What specific fields in the record would you like to pull data from for renaming the files?
- Could you elaborate on the use cases where you would need to export these renamed files or images?

Jon Darbyshire I have a forms for submitting banking transactions as well as for collecting receipts. Both of these forms have the files/image fields so that people submitting can image the sales or banking receipt when they fill out the form. This is just a crazy great way to collect this type of information. If any of the images get downloaded for archiving or for temporary use, it would be super helpful to have the fine name of the images match information from the recorded the field was stored with. The fields i see most likely to be used for naming the image would be a date, text, and a selection field. More than one text and selection fields might be needed to assemble the file name. It would also be sweet to be able to set up a form to log images where the expectation was to OCR the image. For example - I just submit the form with a image of the receipt and the automation OCRs the image and pulls out the transaction data from the receipt. Quickbooks has a feature like this and it works surprisingly well. That ability would be huge. Another example would be doing the same for a business card.
