Jon Darbyshire, This is for reporting purposes. Each department submits weekly updates using a form, and all of the records are merged together to show on one report. Not all departments have an update to give every week, so our owners are having to scroll through long empty fields to get to some of the reports. It is mostly an issue with the SmartDoc fields because they are such large empty spaces.

Carla Williams Thank you for the additional detail as this is ver useful. I am going to discuss some options with our Product team this week. As we discuss Conditional Logic for field display, there may be a quicker solution that we could implement and I wanted to get your thoughts on this. What if we only displayed 3 or4 lines of the SmartDoc field if it is empty and then if you click into the field it will expand to the size that it is now? Would this work for a short term option?

Jon Darbyshire, I would like to minimize clicks to make the interface as simple as possible. The comments are usually quite long, and I would rather them be able to see as much as possible without having to click through. If there was a way to just make the box smaller only if it was empty that would work...
