Previews & Automatic embeds of links in Link field / SmartDoc

Now let's talk about #2, this one is fun :)
Denny, indeed that's a great feature and an awesome idea ! I have been thinking about something like that where we can even embed code in between the lines, this will let me attach Figma previews right inside the document without making people click on the links at all.
But let's now talk about the "simple" link unfurl.
Obviously the automatic unfurl the way Slack is doing it is not a great solution when it comes to documentation since your doc might be 40,000 words with 100 links and just showing chaotic preview of 100 links at the end of the doc won't be very useful. For short docs with 1-2 links for sure, but the feature will become useless for the longer ones.
That's why a more suitable approach will be to bring some more functionality in the "/" menu and provide an option to "Insert link preview" (name is not final of course) where we let you insert link previews only when you want and exactly where you want.
Can't wait to hear your thoughts on that guys.
Regards,
Stoyan

Hey Nate Montgomery @ SmartSuite and Denny Basham,
#1 is quite easy and it's definitely something that we can jump right on since we're already doing this for our Link Field. I'm attaching a simple preview. I will follow up on #2 in a separate reply :)

Additionally I would say have the ability to display URL as say the image or perhaps as the Google Doc/Sheet, etc. Similar to what unfurl does when you paste a Google Doc, JPEG, PNG or video link in Slack. So, this is not just limited to a hover but rather as default display in the record with perhaps a toggle b/w display URL and display image/etc. This is similar to how you can show an image in card view but with a few more options. I would even include CloudApp in this unfurl as we use this all the time in Slack.
