It would be helpful if you can add an extension to a phone number.

Can you provide examples of when you would need to use a phone number extension?
How often do you anticipate needing to use a phone number extension?
Are there any specific formats for phone number extensions that you would like us to consider?

Jon Darbyshire We use the phone # field for contacts in our Contact CRM. A handful of our contacts have an extension number associated with their phone number. I currently have to create another 'text' field to include the extension number. Their extension number is currently a three digit extension. When I include the extra numbers, the phone number reverts to the first 10 digits.

Looks like you can add it, it only displays if you click on the cell though. Not a good design... nobody would click to find out IF an extension was present.

Tyler Brennan: Click into a Phone field, add the number and extension, click back out, extension disappears from view, click back in, extension shows up. I.e. extension IS stored, but is only visible when editing.

Works while I'm editing within the record view, clicking in and out. But as soon as I hit save, and reopen the record view, it disappears. Definitely see a need for a phone number format to allow for extensions! Thanks Jeff.

Tyler Brennan: Oh wow! I just assumed if a field accepted a value and there was no error message the data would be saved. Accepting data entry and not saving it should be a bug, not a feature request. Suggest you open as a bug as well.
