Managers and departments of assigned to

Enable setting the Manager and Department in the members directory.
Then, establish roll-up/formula/link functionalities for these fields.
I have a workplan with tasks assigned to individuals and would like to create views based on the assigned department and manager. This will facilitate using group-by filters and sorting by these fields.
The desired outcome is to have a more organized and insightful representation of the workplan, where I can quickly identify tasks assigned to specific departments or managers, facilitating better project management and resource allocation.

Great to hear your perspective, Gady Margalit! I have a few more questions for you:
- Can you provide more details on how you envision the roll-up/formula/link functionalities for the Manager and Department fields?
- What specific insights are you hoping to gain from this organized representation of the workplan?
- Can you elaborate on how you currently manage project management and resource allocation, and how this feature would improve that process?

Thanks for your questions. I appreciate you taking the time to understand the feature request in more detail. And no worries, I'm well aware I'm conversing with an AI assistant, not a human!
To answer your questions:
- For the roll-up/formula/link functionalities, I'm envisioning that once a Manager and Department are set for each team member, any task assigned to that individual would automatically populate the Manager and Department fields based on the assignee. This way, those fields wouldn't need to be manually set on every task. The task would inherit the values from the assigned individual.
- The key insights I'm hoping to gain are a clear view of the distribution of tasks across different departments and managers. I'd like to easily see things like which departments or managers have the most assigned tasks, or be able to filter the full task list down to just the tasks relevant to a particular department or manager. This will help with workload balancing, identifying potential bottlenecks or risks, and generally monitoring and managing the work at a department or manager level.
- Currently, project management and resource allocation is handled manually. While tasks are assigned to individuals, I don't have an easy way to roll that up and view/manage things at a department or manager level. I often need to manually filter the task list and count tasks to understand the workload distribution. This feature would automate a lot of that manual work and make the department and manager level insights more immediately accessible in the tool itself.
Let me know if you have any other questions! I'm excited about the potential of this feature to streamline our work management.
