Dynamically Populating a Form Field
Dave Bayless
I would like to be able to use URL parameters in a query string to dynamically populate a form.
For example, I am working on a case where guest users are prompted for an update via email. Embedded within the email would be a customized URL that includes a SmartSuite record ID as a parameter. When the user clicks on the link, they would be taken to a dashboard that contains a SmartSuite form. They would use the form to update the record. I would like to populate a (hidden) record ID field on the form with the data from the URL query string.
I use this technique with some frequency with Gravity Forms: https://docs.gravityforms.com/using-dynamic-population/#h-query-string

It would be really useful if we could pass information into a SmartSuite form from the URL used to click it. This information could be used to fill out a field in the record created by a form.
One use case would be to track where the form was filled out from. For instance we might want to give different staff members different form links, so we know where to go with additional questions about the content, or use different form links for a link to a form on our website or in an email, so we know where engagement is coming from.

This would be awsome feature!
For example send the vendors's owners links to satisfaction survey forms with some of the fields pre-populated: vendor name/link & Owner
This way the user does not need to choose his name or the vendor name.

Gady Margalit, it's a pet peeve of mine when I'm asked to enter information into a form (e.g., name and email) when the requester obviously has that information (i.e., they sent me an email request to fill out the form!). This feature is one of the reasons I end up using Typeform rather than SmartSuite forms in many cases.

This has a lot of power. Quite often we want users to give us some info which is in addition to what info we already know, plus we want to prevent users changing data. This was an ongoing problem with Airtable also where they still haven't implemented read-only fields on forms.

I use this technique via Cognito forms.
