Document Designer: Add fieldname to field value
T
Tilo Gunzenhäuser (SBM)
Creating a new document with Document Designer ist very time consumpting. First you have to create a text field, then select a variable and then link / place these items together on your document. In 99% the text field is identical to the description entered in the variable.
Would be easier, if the description would come with the variable, e.g. Name: "name"

Prefix and suffix for fields in document designer

This way we can add the field name or a custom label before values, so it is clear what the value portraits.
Right now I have to create a seperate text field and make sure it is anchored to the same element to keep it alighned with eachother. Would be much easier if the label would be in the value field

Thank you for posting, lorenzo! I have a few more questions for you:
- Can you provide examples of the types of fields where you would like to use this prefix/suffix feature?
- Are there specific formats or conventions you would like to follow for these prefixes/suffixes?
- Would you like this feature to be customizable or would a standard format suffice?

I would also like to add:
- The ability to be able to format the field label's Font, Font Size, Font Color
- The ability to be able to format the field label's Border, Border Color, Border Width
- The ability to be able to format the field label's Fill color
- The ability to manually change the field label Name (Reason: One may want to display the field label differently than how it is named on the table)
- The ability to attach/snap and orient the label relative to the field:
- snapped to the left of field
- snapped on the top of field
- snapped to the right of the field
- snapped to the bottom of the field
- The ability to manually move the field label to any location (not snapped to the field)
