Automatic date update for subtasks in recurring tasks
Jon Darbyshire
Hello Kimberlee Vollbrecht! Following up on this:
- Can you provide more details on how you envision the date reset process for the subtasks? Should it be based on the completion date of the main task or the creation date of the new main task?
- Do you want the subtasks to have the same due date as the main task or should they be spread out over the month?
- Are there any specific conditions or exceptions when the subtasks' dates should not be reset?

Jon Darbyshire thanks so much for asking for more details!
In this case, I have a task with set subtasks, that I need to start on the 5th of the month, and then run a set number of business days between subtasks (this could default to just a number of days, and I can tweak as needed).
1) It would be ideal if this were based on the creation date of the new task (so it populates on the same date each month, in this case. There may be some quarterly or annual tasks this could apply to as well.)
2) Each sub task has a unique start/end date. They are sequential, so when it is repeated it's a bit of a pain to go into subtask and move both dates to the right place - and since I can't see the task before it, I'm guessing at when to start/end it (as I don't count weekends).
Each subtask takes a different number of days to complete, but I would be happy to have a preset number of days between them, as that would be pretty simple to edit.
3) in this case all of the subtasks are needed. I have a hard time thinking of a use case where they wouldn't be - but in that event, it would be easy to check them off.
Thanks again!
