Adding 'Date Range' Field in Form View
R
Rachid Lghachi
I would like to suggest adding the "Date Range" field to the form view. Currently, this field is not available in this view, which poses issues for certain use cases.
For example, for leave requests, it is essential to select a date range to indicate the requested leave period. Without this option, it becomes difficult to accurately enter the period, leading to potential errors and inefficient management of requests.
Additionally, the "Date Range" field would be useful for meeting room bookings. Users could specify the desired time ranges directly, simplifying the booking process and avoiding scheduling conflicts.
Furthermore, this field would be very practical for event planning. Organizers could clearly define the start and end dates of an event, aiding in resource coordination and effective communication with participants.
Adding this feature would greatly enhance the usability and flexibility of forms in SmartSuite, allowing for better management of various processes that require date range selections.
Thank you for considering this request. I look forward to this update.

Hey Rachid Lghachi, thanks for your feedback! I have a few more questions for you:
- Can you provide examples of the specific forms where you would like to see the 'Date Range' field added?
- Are there any other fields you believe should be added to the form view to improve its functionality?
- How often do you encounter situations where the 'Date Range' field would be beneficial?

Here are some details regarding my request to add the "Date Range" field in the form view:
- Examples of Specific Forms :
- Leave Request Form : Employees could specify the exact period of their leave, making it easier to manage absences and approvals.
- Meeting Room Booking Form : Allows users to select the desired time range for a reservation, facilitating coordination and preventing scheduling conflicts.
- Event Planning Form : Useful for defining the start and end dates of an event, aiding in resource management and logistical organization.
- Marketing Campaign Planning Form : To set the start and end dates of a marketing campaign, helping organize resources, plan promotional activities, and track campaign performance over a specified period.
- Project Management Form : For defining project phases or milestones. The "Date Range" field can indicate the start and end dates of different phases, helping to manage deadlines and coordinate teams.
- Equipment Rental Form : Companies can use the "Date Range" field to indicate the periods during which equipment or materials will be rented. This is particularly useful for preventing double bookings and ensuring the availability of equipment.
- Frequency of Situations Where the "Date Range" Field Would Be Beneficial:
- The need for the "Date Range" field arises frequently in various situations, especially for leave requests and meeting room bookings, which are daily processes in many organizations. The ability to define precise date ranges is crucial for effective scheduling and resource management.
Adding this feature would greatly enhance the efficiency of managing processes that require precise date range selections.

Jon Darbyshire To Give you another use case. I use forms in a Dahsboard that I turn into a portal for my trainers. I need the to be able to specify for let's say a training session that triggers automations, the starting date AND HOUR + ending DATE AND HOUR of a training. Automations are in place to send a reminder to the customer 24h before a traininga nd 24h hours. Somehow right now I ve separated the date raneg in two fields, start date + end date, but there is no way to fill in the hours in these date fields on forms either....

I only need 5 fields in a form, and the most important one is the date field (in this case the date range). You would say it is a no-brainer to pick this kind of field. But may be it is difficult to realize.

Totally agree! I don't get it why this field is not integrated
