Ability to perform inline edits on linked records that are displayed in Grid View.

Ability to perform inline edits on linked records that are displayed in Grid View. Currently, we can select the Grid View as a display for Linked records, but to edit any of the values in the grid, we must click on the record, update it, and save it. Having inline edit capabilities would be extremely beneficial.

Huzzah to this, couldn't agree more! I just opened a support ticket about this and was directed here. Wish I could upvote this 100 times so it would get pushed through ASAP. Would be a game changer for me.

Editing Information within the Table 'Linked records'
Valeria Pitiakova
In our case, we have a job record, and within that job record, there are linked product line item records where the level of effort is added along with pricing. Account Managers also change status throughout the job creation flow.
Updating those product line items is a struggle. When Account Managers need to update product line items, they either have to open them one by one or use the Grid View. Sometimes there are 50 of items to update. However, Grid View has so many use cases that we can't create a filtered view for all scenarios, so the view includes all the jobs that AM managing.
After working with this flow for half a year, we constantly come back to the idea of how much easier it would be if it were possible to update data directly in the table.

Edit Linked Record fields within the Parent Record Modal

If a linked record is displayed as a table in the record modal it would be helpful if we can edit fields of the linked records in that table within the record view rather than it opening up the linked records modal to edit that field
Jon Darbyshire
Thank you for posting, Gurpreet Sanghera! I have a few more questions for you:
- Can you provide a specific example of a situation where this feature would have been beneficial?
- Are there any specific fields in the linked records that you find yourself editing frequently?
- How often do you need to edit linked records within the parent record modal?

Jon Darbyshire Thank you for reaching out so quickly!
- We have built out a solution to track Sales Orders for which we have the individual line items for that Sales Order tracked as records in a separate table. (Screenshot provided)
- When looking at the modal for the Sales Order record I have the linked line item appearing as a table with the relevant fields. The fields I need to edit frequently are the Status, Ship Date, Deliver Date or the tracking #.
- With our current order volume I am doing this a few times a week.

Jon Darbyshire I would also like to weigh in here.
I have a list of parts I am producing with various manufacturers. Each part has a general "Notes" (Text) field which gets updated frequently. These parts are linked to different solutions (including Product lists, Manufacturer lists, Design Iterations, etc) and the notes field is an always changing thing.
It would be a big time saver, not to mention easier on the brain in general, if the field was directly editable no matter which solution I'm looking at.
