Ability to hyperlink words within an email using SmartSuite fields
Sharon Nolan
I want to be able to hyperlink words within an email with actual SmartSuite fields like you can in Airtable. The use case is that sometimes URLs from a record can be really long & I would prefer for them to be hyperlinked instead. Airtable accomplishes this by requiring you to put the words you want hyperlinked within brackets [ ] and the actual Airtable field URL/link you want it to be hyperlinked with to just be within parentheses ( ).

Until/unless we are able to use SmartSuite forms to update records, providing links to third-party tools that allow us to accomplish the same thing will be necessary. I'm using a Fillout integration to accomplish this. But when we use several URL parameters in the Fillout links, the displayed URL can get extremely long. This is not user-friendly for folks who aren't tech-savvy. Sometimes email clients will also break a long URL with many parameters, rendering the URL less useful or even useless. It would improve engagement if we could hyperlink words, buttons, and images with URLs that include dynamic field data, the same way we can create a dynamic URL for button and formula field types.
We send such requests at roughly 50 times per month, and currently we have to rely on third-party automation tools like Make or n8n to generate what should be simple emails for SmartSuite to handle in-house. Daisy-chaining third-party tools like this--from SmartSuite to Make to Fillout and back to SmartSuite--is also a recipe for technical errors to crop up that are always difficult to diagnose.

Where are we with this vital feature? It’s been almost a year that we’ve been stuck on it.

Ability to add trigger field data to Automations using Send Email action. Currently you can only create a hypertext link by adding a static URL to text in the email body. Fillout URLs that we want to send to clients to complete a form are dynamic and contain the record ID. It would be better and look much nicer to send the link without displaying the long URL with the record ID at the end.

Here is a video that illustrates the issue (at least my understanding of the issue): https://www.loom.com/share/c6f327dc864f4a02ab5c4438cd9f0c3c?sid=7ed53533-4647-4fe9-8044-faf33451faff
